The Power of Creativity, Teaching, and Hypnotherapy: Transforming Children’s Anxiety into Confidence
As a hypnotherapist, I’ve discovered a unique way to blend my background in art, years of teaching children, and the transformative power of cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy. This combination has proven to be incredibly successful in helping children overcome anxiety, allowing them to embrace life with confidence and ease. Seeing a child transform from fear and worry to a state of calm confidence is incredibly rewarding, and I’m grateful to be able to use the full range of my own experiences as artist, teacher and hypnotherapist to support that journey.
Creativity Meets Therapy: A Unique Approach
My journey began with a degree in art, where creativity was central to everything I did. Later, as a teacher, I learned how to communicate effectively with children, understanding how they learn and what language resonates with them. Combining these two aspects with hypnotherapy has created something truly special.
For children who struggle with anxiety, whether it's related to school attendance, friendships, or confidence issues, traditional talking therapies can sometimes feel overwhelming or too abstract for them. That’s where creativity steps in. Over the course of my six-week program, designed for children aged 7 to 13, I incorporate activities such as collage-making, creating personal books, and playing games. These activities help children understand and learn the techniques they need in a fun, engaging way, without even realising they are developing therapeutic skills.
Teaching Children to Become Their Own Therapists
The essence of this approach is to empower children to become their own therapists. Through playful activities, I teach children techniques that they can use in everyday life. For example, making collages or books allows them to open up about their emotions and experiences. It gives them a tangible way to express what they are going through and explore solutions in a hands-on manner.
Through playing games children can practice mindfulness, relaxation, and reframing their thoughts through structured yet playful scenarios. This playful environment helps children absorb skills like positive self-talk, breathing exercises, and other coping mechanisms like ‘The Magic Fist’. By the end of the six weeks, they have a personalised toolkit they can carry with them into any situation to keep them on ‘The Path of Dreams’.
My Personal Connection: Parenting Neurodiverse Children
Part of what makes my approach effective is my own experience as a parent of neurodiverse children. My understanding of Autism and ADHD, as well as the various challenges that can come with it, has shaped my perspective on how to work with children who think and learn differently.
My own children have taught me that children often need more creative and flexible approaches to things like organisation and anxiety management. Every child is unique and what works for one child might not work for another, so having a deep understanding of neurodiversity allows me to tailor my methods to meet individual needs. This personal connection also fuels my passion for helping children move beyond their worries and embrace life’s possibilities. Change is possible for all children!
Why It Works: The Language of Children
Years of teaching gave me an in-depth understanding of the language of children. Knowing how they process information, what grabs their attention, and how they express themselves is key to creating a safe and effective therapeutic environment. I use this insight to make each session feel natural, engaging, and, most importantly, understandable for children.
Children learn best when they’re having fun, and by incorporating artistic activities and games, I create a learning experience where they don’t feel like they’re working through complex emotions — it just happens organically.
A Life-Changing Six-Week Program
Over the course of six weeks, I guide children through a series of sessions designed to help them overcome common challenges such as school attendance, friendship issues, shyness, and confidence. The program blends creativity with cognitive behavioural techniques, teaching children how to regulate their emotions, manage stress, and build confidence.
This unique combination of creative therapy and hypnotherapy has helped so many children move past their anxieties and embrace life with a renewed sense of purpose. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is to give children the tools to navigate their own emotions and face their fears head-on but also understand that they have a choice to make these changes.
If you’re looking for an approach that doesn’t just address symptoms but teaches children how to become their own therapists, this program could be the key to unlocking their potential. Through creativity, hypnotherapy, and years of experience, I help children discover their inner strength, so they can get on with their lives and be happy.
